Not quite a meal kit, but definitely deserving of some attention.

First Impressions

Available from Joy At Portabello.

£18 for 16 wontons (and a pretty hefty delivery charge). This is clearly not particularly cheap, but compared to this item on a restaurant menu, I'd say it's a reasonable offer.

The idea would be to order this alongside some other deli goodies, so the flat-rate delivery charge is less of a hit.

On to the Cooking

The brief instructions were simple. You just need to boil in water then toss in the chilli vinegar provided.

4-6 minutes is all it takes, you'll know because the wontons float when ready.

The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating

Really delicious. The filling is juicy and flavourful, none of the wontons perforated either, which is always a plus!

The chilli vinegar dressing wasn't very spicy at all. I would have preferred something with a touch more kick, but that just personal preference.

Final Thoughts

8/10

These delightful little wontons are exactly on the money. No surprises, which is a good thing.

Tasty, well sized and a good flavour. I'd definitely consider these again. Another Darren Wogman | Hungry Darren Top Pick!
